How we work
Methodology
How information on SnapVoyages is selected, sourced and presented — and where the limits of that information lie.
Source hierarchy
We prefer sources in this order:
- Port authorities, government agencies and other official bodies
- Public-domain geographic datasets for coordinates and coastlines
- Cruise lines' own published information, for facts about their own operations
- Industry associations, for structural or definitional information
An operator is treated as authoritative about itself and about nothing else. Where sources disagree, we either state the disagreement or omit the claim.
What counts as a fact here
A statement is publishable if it can be traced to a named source, is stable enough not to be wrong within weeks, and is relevant to a pre-booking decision. Coordinates, port roles, regional geography, seasonal patterns and cruise-line presence meet that bar. Prices, schedules, availability and onboard details do not, because they change continuously and are only accurate at the operator.
Omission over invention
If a field cannot be sourced, it is left out rather than estimated. This is why some ports carry less detail than others: the absence of a detail means we could not verify it, not that it does not exist. Numbers are never rounded up into claims, and we do not fill gaps with plausible-sounding text.
No reviews, no rankings
SnapVoyages does not rate, score or rank cruise lines, ships or ports, and does not present any option as our pick. Lists are ordered alphabetically or geographically, never by preference. We have not sailed the itineraries described, and the site never implies otherwise.
Illustrative imagery
Photographic-style scene images on the site are generated for illustration and visual orientation. They are not documentary photographs and are not evidence of what a specific port, ship or landscape looks like. Map geometry, by contrast, is drawn from public-domain geographic data and real coordinates.
Independence and funding
Cruise lines do not pay for placement and do not review content before publication. The site currently carries no advertising or affiliate links. If commercial relationships are introduced in future, they will be disclosed clearly and will not affect factual content or ordering.
Updates and corrections
Each page lists the sources it draws on together with the date those sources were consulted. Cruise operations change; a sourced fact is accurate as of that date and should be re-confirmed with the operator before you rely on it. If you find an error, please tell us — corrections are made on the page itself.
